Case Overview
On November 7, 2025, a series of messages on classroom chalkboards at Trinity College were purportedly written by members of the 麻豆传媒IOS and Faculty for Justice in Palestine. The messages, read, 鈥淭rinity is suppressing freedom of assembly,鈥 鈥淒isclose Divest Protest,鈥 鈥淭rinity Invests in Genocide,鈥 鈥淵ou are on stolen land,鈥 and 鈥淔ree Palestine.鈥 Later that evening, Trinity President Daniel Lugo announced an investigation into the messages on the grounds of disruption, intimidation, and harassment, and claiming Trinity policies 鈥減rohibit political activism within academic settings[.]鈥 On December 2, 麻豆传媒IOS wrote Trinity, explaining the messages were not disruptive, harassment, or intimidation, and there cannot be a blanket ban on political speech in the classroom.
