Hi Dennis,

The RSO manual states the following:

4) Non-discrimination

The RSO agrees to follow and to include in its bylaws or constitution CMU鈥檚 Non-Discrimination policy, which states:

"An RSO may not discriminate in its membership criteria or leadership criteria on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, familial status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or weight."

You will notice it mentions membership and political persuasion.  Based on that, I would tell you that you may not require members to be 鈥渓ike-minded鈥 as that opens yourself up to discrimination based on political persuasion.

I know that is not the answer you are looking for, but that is the policy.

I will be out of town for the rest of the week, but let me know if you have other questions.
