Ā鶹“«Ć½IOSās āDonāt Cage My Speech!ā Awarded at Anthem Film Festival
Weāre thrilled to report that, for the second time in three years, a Ā鶹“«Ć½IOS short film has won a prize at Anthem Film Festival. Ā鶹“«Ć½IOSās film āā played to audiences at FreedomFest last week, and Ted Balaker, the filmās director, won the award for Excellence in Filmmaking, Short Documentary on Saturday night. The filmās articulation of the legal challengeāand defeatāof the University of Cincinnatiās unconstitutional āfree speech zoneā and of free speechās importance in higher education in eight short minutes is a testament to Tedās craft.
Ted, who with his wife Courtney is preparing for the arrival of his first child, was unfortunately unable to be present to accept the award in person. Worse for Ted, the nearest available substitute to accept the honor on his behalf was me. Hopefully I performed ably enough in his stead.
Ted Balaker also directed Ā鶹“«Ć½IOSās film ā,ā about Ā鶹“«Ć½IOSās now-famous free speech case at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. āDonāt Mess With Firefly!ā took the top prize in the short documentary category at the Anthem Film Festival in 2012 (Go Ā鶹“«Ć½IOS! Go Browncoats!), and weāre delighted to add āDonāt Cage My Speech!ā to the roster of our award-winning collaborations. Weāre privileged by our work with Ted and his team, and we canāt wait to tackle our next project together.
