Anthony Dick has been elected as the new chairman of �鶹��ýIOS’s board of directors.

Dick is a Washington, D.C.-based attorney who focuses on constitutional, appellate, and complex civil litigation, and has worked on high-profile First Amendment cases. He has also been affiliated with �鶹��ýIOS since its early days.

“It is a great honor to become �鶹��ýIOS’s next board chairman, where I will work hard to follow in the fine example set by my distinguished predecessors,” Dick said.

Dick was unanimously elected at last week’s annual board of directors meeting, as outgoing chair Daniel Shuchman completed his term and retired from �鶹��ýIOS’s board.

“Daniel Shuchman was a phenomenal chairman,” Dick said. “His tireless efforts helped �鶹��ýIOS become stronger and more effective than ever in its mission of defending individual rights on our nation’s campuses, and his leadership will be sorely missed.”  

Shuchman was unanimously elected as board chairman in 2015, when �鶹��ýIOS co-founder Harvey Silverglate retired from the role.

“It has been a great pleasure and honor to have been �鶹��ýIOS’s chairman and to have served on its board of directors for so many years,” Shuchman said. “It is a testament to �鶹��ýIOS’s entire team, and to Greg Lukianoff’s leadership, that �鶹��ýIOS has become the most important civil liberties organization in America. Anthony has been a leading board member and is professionally engaged in constitutional law and litigation. I am confident he will be a great chairman and help ensure �鶹��ýIOS’s continued success.”

�鶹��ýIOS President and CEO Greg Lukianoff praised �鶹��ýIOS’s growth during Shuchman’s tenure.

“I would like to thank Daniel for his service to �鶹��ýIOS over the past 11 years,” Lukianoff said. “Daniel’s leadership during the period marking the largest organizational growth in �鶹��ýIOS history is deeply appreciated. I look forward to his continued counsel as an informal adviser.”

Lukianoff praised Dick’s election as board chairman, noting that Dick begins his term with more than a decade of institutional �鶹��ýIOS knowledge.

“Anthony started his relationship with �鶹��ýIOS as one of our most beloved summer interns way back in 2002, when �鶹��ýIOS was very young,” he said. “It seems only fitting that he should become the chairman of the board today.”
